Music was playing in the background, some people were dancing on it, others simply talking and drinking together.

Tom was sipping from his champagne while talking to some people he knew.
He was bored. Yes, he could go dance or something but he wasn’t in the mood. It’s not he didn’t enjoyed being at this auction night, but the more he went to events, the more he thought they became all the same.
Excusing himself, he made his way to the bar, needing something stronger. “Jameson. On ice, please.” He asked the barman who nodded and prepared his drink and placing it in front of him
He took a sip from his glass when he heard someone laughing. His head turned to the owner of the voice when he saw her, holding a hand in front of her mouth laughing. Her (e/c) eyes .

He couldn’t hold the smile forming around his lips when he saw her smile; it brightened everything around in this place. The people she was talking to said something and walked away. He saw her looking around a little lost and then disappear through one of the doors.
Not realising it, he stood up and followed the mystery woman. He was probably going to look like some creep, but he was curious.

She was with her back against the wall with an arm in front of her eyes.
“Oh excuse me.” She said quickly when she heard someone coming, standing straighter.
He grinned. “Hiding?”  Tom couldn’t help notice how much he liked the blush that was spreading on her cheeks.
“No.” She laughed softly looking down. “A little maybe.”
Leaning against the wall in front of her he gave her an understanding smile. “First time?”
“Yeah... I’m not really used to all this fancy. It’s like a whole different world.”
He scoffed. “Tell me about it.”
“You seem quite of this world, though.” She observed with a coy smile.
He shrugged. “Goes with the work.” She hummed thoughtfully. “Tom.” He said holding his hand.
“(Y/n).” He loved her soft little hand in his, but let go, not wanting to be inappropriate.
“Fancy a dance with me?” He asked politely.
She shook her head. “I’m not much of a dancer when people are around, sorry.”
Taking that as a challenge he offered his hand again. “We could stay here, no public.” She bit the inside of her cheek and with a sigh she placed her hand in his large one.
“If I step on your feet, don’t start to complain.” She warned gently with an eye roll. With a grin he brought her closer to him, one hand holding hers and the other on her hip, while her other hand was placed carefully on his shoulder. He started moving slowly around on the music playing in the other room.
He looked down in her (e/c) eyes and he could swear he saw something like sparkles in them. “So Tom... What do you do in life?” She asked him.
“I’m an actor.” When he saw her smile he added, “but I see you already knew that.”
“Yeah.” She said sheepishly. “I just wanted to be polite.” He laughed and continued dancing her around in the empty hall.
“And what do you do?” He asked.
“I’m a writer.”
“Any books I might have read?”
She shook her head. “No I don’t think so.” A giggle escaped her. The most beautiful sound he ever heard.
“I love your laugh.” He blurted. Feeling his face heat up when he realised he just said that out loud. Luckily it earned him more of that perfect sound.
“Thanks, I guess.” The music changed to something somewhat more upbeat but he continued swaying with her on some music just the both of them could hear. “Eu...would you like to go outside?” She asked almost in a whisper.

He nodded and they parted. She was going to slips her hand out of his, but he held a little tighter she looked down and smiled. Together they walked outside.
“There was a fountain outside I think...” She mumbled more to herself. He followed her to where she wanted to go. They stopped at a large fountain that was illuminated beautifully. The flowers and bushes around made it more private.
“What are you doing?” He asked smiling when she putted her heels off.
“My feet are killing me!” She groaned and placed them in the grass. “Freedom!” She sang wiggling her toes in the grass. She sat down at the side of the marble fountain and placed her feet in the cool water. Sighing she closed her eyes.
He sat next to her, with his back to the water. “You were invited?”
“Yeah. I wasn’t going to go. I prefer staying in my house and write or read or something, you know?  I was going to donate from my coach and it would be done, but my agent was pushing me to go, saying I had to not be a hermit all the time and go on social events now and then. So yeah here I am. And you?”
“Normally I like to come to those kind of events. Gala’s, auctions, red carpets, after parties and such, but those last few times, I don’t know.” He shrugged, not exactly knowing how to explain it.
“They become flat, pointless.”
He nodded silently. “Yeah. That’s it.”
“Too much of something is never good.” She said her feet moving lazily in the water.

A mischievous smile appeared on his face. In one swift move he dropped his hand in the water and splashed some water in her face. Gasping she whipped the water of her face. “You just didn’t...” She said and splashed water his way, wetting his lower back and side.
He jumped up. “My suite!” He said with a grin.
“My make up!” She used the same choked tone he just had used. Standing up she kicked some water.
“Ha! You better run young lady.” He warned taking his shoes of and his socks. He crouched down to roll his pants up a little, keeping an eye on her. She used that moment to splash him again and run away giggling.
After taking his jacket off he followed her in the fountain and they started playing like five year olds. Kicking and splashing water on each other, laughing so hard their stomach hurt.

“Oh God...” She panted after a good fifteen minutes. “Okay I SURENDER!” She laughed and shied herself when he pretended he was going to splash her again.
“Are you sure?” He asked breathlessly. His curly brown hair was a mess, and he was drenched to his underwear. “Because I could continue all night.”
She placed her hands on her hips. “Yeah well I couldn’t.” She fell in a fit of giggles again. “And I’m freezing. I don’t feel my toes or fingers. Or any other part of my body that is.”
“Okay, we stop.” He said walking next to her. He helped her walking out of the basin and got out himself.
“If I had known I’d brought dry underwear.” She complained.
“Yeah me too. Nothing more uncomfortable as a cold butt.”  He picked her heels up and handed them to her.
“Thanks. And yes I couldn’t agree more.”
He putted his socks and shoes back on. “Here take my jacket. I wouldn’t want you to be sick.” Looking how a soft smile played around her (s/l) lips, he putted it around her shoulders, putting her drenched hair that was tucked inside his jacket out, she shivered. From the cold or his touch he didn’t know, it made him smile nonetheless.
“Thank you.” She said looking from under her eye lashes. “Aren’t you cold?”
He shook his head. “No, I’m okay don’t worry.” They sat down on the little bench to dry off a little. “It’s been a long time I laughed so much.” He grinned.
“Really? That’s sad...” Her tone was hyped, the adrenaline still working he guessed.

Smiling she held his hand. He smiled back and they looked in front of them in silence, enjoying each other’s silent company.
“Are you happy?” He hadn’t expected that question. “In general I mean.” She added when he didn’t react at her question.
He nodded. “Yes I am. I’m a very happy person.”
“That’s good then. I’m happy you are.” She squeezed his hand. “But it has been a long time since you laughed that hard?”
He nodded. “It’s been a long time a really laughed yes.”
She hummed. “Okay I get it. I laugh way too much.” She grinned. “But I’m not happy.” Her grin turned into a sad smile.
“No?” It was his turn to squeeze her hand.
“That’s why I’m a writer.” She laughed. “All good writers are sad people.”

Looking at her face, her (e/c) eyes were looking somewhere far in front of her. She was lost in thoughts. Tom had the sudden urge to hug her, and it was exactly what he did.
She tensed a moment from the sudden contact but relaxed and leaned into his touch. He felt body shake in his arms when she laughed. “Is that one of the famous Hiddleston hugs?”
“You heard about them?” He wondered.
“Who hasn’t?” Was her answere.
He laughed and shook his head. “No it’s not. It’s de Hiddleston Special Hug, reserved only for a few people.”
Giggling she buried her face in his toned chest. “I feel honoured. Thank you.” She parted and stood up. “Tom, I had a wonderful time. Thank you again.”
He stood up. “You are leaving already?” Yes, it maybe was a little after one in the morning, but still.
“I have a full day tomorrow...” She explained. “Meeting with my publisher and such. So I need to be full alert so I can yell at him if he dare say I need to change something in the plot.” She grinned and he knew she wouldn’t yell at people just like that.
“Allow me to escort you out.” She made his new favourite sound and nodded.  They walked back inside together, trying to stay in the shadows so nobody would ask why they would be soaked like that.

The young man who gave her her coat back only looked at them weirdly but didn’t made any remark and wished the (h/c) haired woman a good night.
Waiting outside for a cab, she turned to look at him, his hair was dry but was curling in weird angles. She bit her lip and looked up at him. She seemed to hesitate.
Lifting her hand a little “Just wait a minute... Can I...?” She stood on her tip toes and ruffled in his hair and stroking them back in place. “So... that’s better.” She grinned. A car stopped in front of them. “That’s mine I guess...” She opened the door. “Thank you again for tonight Tom.”
“You are welcome!” He held the door while she stepped in. “Will I see you again?”
She gave him an amused full megawatt smile. “Maybe. If the cosmos wants to.”

He shook his head amused and she giggled before closing the door. He saw her saying something at the driver and the car drove off. She waved at him till they couldn’t see each other anymore.
Tom looked down smiling and hoped the cosmos would make them meet again. He really wanted to.
